The house and the origin of our stones
TOLMACH is a family house of high jewellery. We work with natural stones and stand behind what we say about them.
The house
Since 1998 a piece is born in one workshop and passes through one pair of hands: sketch, wax, setting, polish. We make jewellery in small series and to order.
The stones
Our emeralds are selected at the Colombian mines of Muzo and Chivor; the collections also hold sapphires, rubies, Paraíba tourmalines and diamonds — both natural and lab grown. The type is always named plainly: “natural” or “lab grown”.
Certificates
The house works with independent gemmological laboratories — GIA, IGI, Gübelin and GRS. Significant stones come with a certificate; a manager will tell you which document a particular piece carries.
What we do not publish
The descriptions on this site speak only of what the photograph shows: the cut, the setting, the construction, the metal. Carats, clarity and the mine of a particular stone are given by a manager, from documents rather than from a photograph.
